Crisis of Consciousness

Sometimes I wax political. Crisis of Consciousness is a collection of socio-political observations. This chapbook contains poetry that did not necessarily belong in other collections. These are a few of my favorite poems to perform at Open Mics because they can instill a wealth of emotions like anger and fear. They can help folks pull out of apathy and into action. It is a short but powerful group of poems, including my signature poem “Validate me.” A poem I wrote during several years of intensive therapy that helped me resolve the issue of not receiving validation as a child. I’ve since grown out of this need, but it exists in you, and in others. We live in a society that constantly tells us we need external validation for our lives. This is why social media was invented. So we can validate our existence. This collection doesn’t really contain any answers. It only brings up more questions that have yet to be answered.
